This project started in Morganton, North Carolina while celebrating the Guatemalan people that migrated to the small mountain town during the civil war in Guatemala in the 1990s. While working with a non-profit in Morganton, NC I became connected with the Guatemalan community there and was asked to travel with a family to Guatemala to visit the homeplace of many who had migrated here. We met with family members of those who found work in Morganton and shared good news about their children in the U.S.
